I was fortunate to be able to attend a photography workshop in Karijini in April 2021 after it had been postponed for the previous 2 years due to Covid.
Karijini is located in The Pilbara region of Western Australia and has such a unique, rugged and spiritual landscape. Its a place that I have wanted to explore for many years and there was no better way to experience than on the workshop with Tom.

I met up with my friend Steph at Perth airport where we took a connecting flight to Parabadoo to meet up with Tom and the other participants.
It was quite warm but the clouds were starting to roll in , which is unusual for that time of year.
After checking into our “Glamping’tents at Karijini Eco resort, we headed out to Kalamina Gorge then onto Dales Gorge just to get an idea as to what we would be photographing the next day. Along the way the clouds became thicker and darker so made for some good images using trees and landscape as foreground interest. Then later that afternoon the heavens opened and down came the rain.
Even though the rain was very heavy and we got wet, it wasn’t cold and was actually a lot fun.
We had a great dinner at the resort whilst planning out our next few days adventures then headed off to our tents to find that our outside ensuites were quite wet complete with a number of brown frogs, which were very cute.
We remembered to put our toilet rolls and towels inside the tent after that first night !!!
